Tucson Chapter members contribute annually toward community outreach. Large sew-a-thons, smaller groups and individuals are all part of a network that donates time and sewing talents toward making a difference in the lives of others.

Walker Bags
The Embroidery SIG has been working on walker bags for nursing homes and other
deserving organizations. Members have tried to use designs appropriate for men and women. They have 3 pockets and tie on the sides with ribbon to make them easy for the staff to launder. They have been a big hit! Thanks to Rose Marie Thompson for organizing this charity project.

Tote bags for the EMERGE Center
In May, 2024 the NW group made tote bags for the EMERGE center which were then filled with full size toiletry items (shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, etc. ) Francine Crist and Joy Lautenschlaeger co-ordinated the effort with the shelter for abused women. We would like to thank Brandon Webb, ASID of the Artful Space located at 12985 Oracle Rd. in Oracle, AZ for his generous donation of vinyl and fabric which was used for many of the tote bags.

Bunny Blankets
On July 1st, 2024 the Northwest NG met in July to make bunny blankets. They will be donated to the Children Under 12 project at the Christmas luncheon.

Holiday Giving for Under 12
The Holiday Giving for Under 12 was a huge success. Members produced some wonderful gifts which shared with three local charity organizations, St. Vincent de Paul, Marana Children and Family Center, and Old Pueblo Community Services. Members brought their donations to the ASG Tucson Christmas Luncheon. Dolls, bears, blankets, toys, books and clothing were donated. These items were greatly appreciated by our charities.
